The Art of the Table

I spent an hour this morning trying to arrange a simple bowl of fruit on my kitchen counter. I kept moving the apples, shifting the light, and trying to make it look like something out of a magazine. It felt silly, but there was something grounding about the effort. We spend so much of our lives rushing through meals, barely tasting what is on our plates or noticing the way a dish is presented. We treat food as fuel, a box to be checked before moving on to the next task. But when we slow down to appreciate the care put into a single plate, we are really acknowledging the hands that made it. It is a quiet form of gratitude. It reminds me that beauty isn’t just found in grand landscapes or big life events; it is often sitting right there in front of us, waiting for us to stop and really look at it. Does a meal ever feel like more than just sustenance to you?

Michelin Star Art by Paul Matthews

Paul Matthews has captured this feeling perfectly in his image titled Michelin Star Art. It reminds me that there is a deep, quiet craft in the way we prepare and share our lives with others. What does this image bring to your table today?
