A Quiet Kind of Trust
I spent this morning watching my neighbor’s dog follow him around the garden. Every time he stopped to prune a rose bush, the dog would simply lean its weight against his leg, perfectly still. It wasn’t a request for attention or a game; it was just a silent agreement to be in the same space, at the same pace. It made me think about how much of our lives are spent rushing, trying to outrun the people or the tasks around us. We rarely stop to lean on one another, or to let someone else lean on us without needing to justify the time it takes. There is a profound, wordless grace in simply existing alongside another living thing, trusting that your presence is enough. We are so often told to be independent, to stand on our own two feet, but perhaps the real strength lies in knowing when to share the burden of the day. Who is the one person you feel most at peace with, just sitting in silence?

Saniar Rahman Rahul has captured this exact feeling of companionship in his beautiful image titled Cattle Egret and Buffalo. It is a gentle reminder of how two different lives can find a rhythm together. Does this image bring a specific person or memory to mind for you?
