Captured in March 2018 during a tour of Fujian, China, this portrait emerged from a serendipitous moment near a mid-hill temple. As water began to flow down a previously dry waterfall, the photographer seized the opportunity to document the scene. The resulting image captures two young travelers amidst the natural beauty of the landscape, showcasing a keen eye for human interest within a grander setting. The photograph is award-worthy for its ability to frame a spontaneous, fleeting encounter against the backdrop of a dramatic, evolving environment, highlighting the photographer's patience and readiness to capture the essence of travel.
