Home Reflections Where the Path Dissolves

Where the Path Dissolves

I took a walk through the woods behind my house this morning, just as the mist was starting to lift. It was one of those days where the air feels heavy and damp, and the world seems to shrink until you can only see a few feet in front of you. I found myself walking slower than usual, not because I was tired, but because I didn’t want to accidentally step out of the quiet. There is something strange about not knowing exactly what lies around the next bend. It makes you pay attention to the texture of the bark and the way the silence feels almost solid. We spend so much of our lives trying to see clearly, trying to map out every step before we take it. But maybe there is a kind of grace in the uncertainty, in the moments when the path ahead is hidden and you have to trust your own feet to carry you forward. Do you ever feel more present when you can’t see the destination?

Passage of the Witches by Mauro Squiz Daviddi

Mauro Squiz Daviddi has captured this exact feeling of mystery in his beautiful image titled Passage of the Witches. It reminds me that sometimes the most hauntingly beautiful places are the ones we can only half-see. Does this image make you want to step into the fog, or stay safely on the edge?
