Weightless in the Blue
I spent this morning watching a heavy rain cloud drift past my window. It was so massive, so full of water, that it seemed impossible it could stay afloat. I found myself holding my breath, waiting for it to break, but it just kept moving, silent and steady against the gray. We spend so much of our lives worrying about the weight of things—the burdens we carry, the expectations we pile up, the sheer mass of our daily responsibilities. We act as if gravity is a personal grudge. But then, there are these moments where something enormous defies the pull of the earth entirely. It makes me wonder why we are so afraid of our own weight. Perhaps we aren’t meant to be light, but rather to find the right current that allows us to carry our size with grace. What would it feel like to stop fighting the gravity of your own life and simply let yourself be held by the air?

Oscar Garcia has captured this feeling of suspended power in his image titled Boeing 747-400. It is a striking reminder of how even the heaviest things can look like they are dancing. Does this image make you feel grounded or like you are ready to take off?
