The World Below

I spent an hour this morning standing on my balcony, just watching the cars crawl along the street like tiny, glowing beetles. From up here, the noise of the city fades into a low, steady hum that feels almost like breathing. It is strange how much our perspective changes when we pull ourselves away from the ground. Down there, I am always worried about the next turn, the red lights, and the rush to get somewhere else. But from this height, the chaos disappears. Everything becomes a pattern, a series of lines and pulses that seem to move with a rhythm I never noticed before. It makes me wonder how many of our daily stresses are just a matter of being too close to the ground. If we could only step back, would we see that we are all just part of a much larger, quieter design? What does the world look like when you finally stop trying to navigate it?

Bird’s Eyeview by Shirren Lim

Shirren Lim has captured this exact feeling of detachment in the image titled Bird’s Eyeview. It turns the busy streets into a map of light that feels both distant and deeply familiar. Does looking at this make you feel small, or does it make you feel like you are finally seeing the bigger picture?
