The Weight of Small Things

I was watering the ferns on my balcony this morning when I spilled the entire pitcher. It was a clumsy start to the day, but as I wiped the floor, I noticed how the water pooled on the waxy surface of a stray leaf. It didn’t just sit there; it held its shape, perfectly round and heavy, reflecting the entire world in a tiny, shivering sphere. We spend so much of our lives looking for the big answers, the grand gestures, and the loud milestones. We forget that the most honest parts of our existence are often the quietest ones. There is a specific kind of grace in the small, temporary things that don’t ask for our attention but offer it anyway. It makes me wonder how many miracles I walk past every single day because I am too busy looking for something larger. What if the most important things are the ones that can disappear with a single breath?
