The Weight of Falling
Gravity is a constant. We spend our lives resisting it, building walls, planting roots, anchoring ourselves to the earth as if we could stay forever. But there is a different truth in the air. To let go is not to lose oneself, but to finally meet the space between the sky and the ground. Up there, the air does not care for your name or your history. It only asks that you accept the descent. We are all falling, really. Some of us just choose to do it with our eyes open, watching the horizon blur into something unrecognizable. It is a quiet violence, this surrender to the wind. Does the earth look different when you are no longer trying to hold onto it?

Chris Horner has captured this suspension in his image titled Skydivers. It reminds me that we are only ever a breath away from letting go. Will you look down, or will you keep your eyes on the clouds?
