The Rhythm of the Climb

I was standing in the middle of the grocery store aisle this morning, completely frozen. People were rushing past me, carts clattering, phones ringing, everyone seemingly in a race to get somewhere else. I had a list in my hand, but I couldn’t remember why I was there or what I was looking for. It felt like the world was moving at double speed while I was stuck in a slow-motion loop. Then, I saw an elderly woman walking toward the exit. She wasn’t hurrying. She moved with a deliberate, steady pace, ignoring the frantic energy around her. It made me realize how often we let the noise of the crowd dictate our own internal tempo. We think we need to match the chaos to be productive, but there is a quiet power in simply choosing your own speed. It is a way of reclaiming your space, even when the world is pushing you to run. Do you ever find yourself intentionally slowing down just to keep your own rhythm?

Staircase Monks by Shirren Lim

Shirren Lim has captured this exact feeling of quiet persistence in her beautiful image titled Staircase Monks. It is a lovely reminder that we can find our own path even in the busiest of places. Does this image make you want to slow your pace today?
