The Rhythm of Hands
I spent this morning trying to fix a loose button on my favorite coat. My fingers felt clumsy, fumbling with the needle and the thread, and I realized how rarely I use my hands for anything that requires real patience. We live in a world of quick taps and swipes, where everything is finished before we have even truly begun to feel the texture of the work. Watching my own awkward movements made me think of the things that take time—the slow, repetitive tasks that don’t just produce a result, but build a life. There is a quiet dignity in the way we prepare for the future, in the way we store up warmth and sustenance for the days when the wind turns cold. It is a form of prayer, really, this act of repeating a motion until it becomes a part of who you are. Do you still have a task in your life that you do by hand, just to feel the weight of it?

Derya Yazar Atasever has captured this sense of devotion perfectly in the image titled Skillful Hands. It is a beautiful reminder of the strength found in our daily rituals. Does this scene bring back any memories of your own family traditions?
