The Quiet Visitor
I spent most of this morning staring at the frost patterns on my kitchen window. I had a list of things to do, but the cold made me feel heavy, so I just stayed put with my tea. It is funny how we spend so much time looking for big adventures, forgetting that the world often comes to us if we just stay still enough. A small sparrow landed on the ledge outside, shaking its wings, and for a few minutes, the entire house felt different. It didn’t care about my to-do list or the grey sky. It was just there, existing in the quiet, a tiny pulse of life against the stillness of the winter. It made me wonder how many beautiful, small things I miss simply because I am too busy trying to get to the next place. Do you ever find that the most important moments are the ones you didn’t plan for at all?

Sarthak Pattanaik has captured this exact feeling in his work titled Green-Backed Tit in a Winter Morning. It reminds me that beauty is often waiting right outside our own glass. What does this little visitor say to you?
