The Quiet Observer

I spent an hour this morning trying to find my keys, moving cushions and checking the pockets of every coat I own. I was frantic, rushing, and completely blind to the world around me. Then, I stopped. I sat on the floor and just breathed for a moment. That is when I noticed a small spider weaving a web in the corner of the room. It was so steady, so deliberate, and entirely unbothered by my chaos. It made me realize how much of life we miss because we are too busy looking for what we think we need. We move through our days with such heavy footsteps, rarely pausing to acknowledge the tiny, intricate lives unfolding right beneath our feet. There is a whole world happening in the margins, waiting for us to slow down enough to see it. If we stopped rushing, what else might we discover hiding in plain sight?

The Posing Toad by Sudeep Mehta

Sudeep Mehta has captured this sense of quiet discovery in his beautiful image titled The Posing Toad. It reminds me that there is so much grace to be found if we only take the time to look. What is the smallest thing you have noticed today?
