The Path We Choose
I spent twenty minutes this morning trying to find my keys, retracing my steps through the house in a frantic, circular loop. I checked the kitchen counter, then the hallway table, then back to the kitchen again. It felt like I was caught in a game where the rules kept changing. We spend so much of our lives moving in these patterns, don’t we? We walk the same routes to work, we circle the same worries in our heads, and we follow the lines laid out for us by habit or design. Sometimes, we are so focused on the destination—the center of the maze, the solution to the problem, the place we are supposed to be—that we forget to look at the ground beneath our feet. We forget that the wandering is often the most important part of the journey. Is it the path that defines us, or is it the way we choose to walk it?

Nilla Palmer has captured this feeling perfectly in her image titled Celtic Games. It shows how even the simplest walk can become a meaningful dance when we are fully present in the moment. Does this remind you of a time you found beauty in a simple routine?
