Small Against the Sky
I stood on my balcony this morning, holding a mug that had gone cold, and watched a single ant navigate the wide, gray expanse of the concrete floor. It looked so purposeful, yet so incredibly tiny against the scale of the building. It made me think about how often we convince ourselves that our problems are the center of the universe. We walk around with our heads down, measuring our lives by the weight of our to-do lists and the urgency of our emails. But then, something happens to pull our gaze upward. We see a mountain range or a vast, open stretch of land, and suddenly, the frantic pace of our day feels like a whisper in a storm. It is a strange, quiet comfort to realize how small we actually are. It doesn’t make our lives less meaningful; it just makes them lighter. When was the last time you felt truly small in the best possible way?

Dipanjan Mitra has captured this feeling perfectly in his image titled Lost in the Vastness. It reminds me that there is a deep peace waiting for us whenever we decide to look beyond our own small corners. Does this view make you feel lonely, or does it make you feel free?
