Home Reflections Eyes Across the Glass

Eyes Across the Glass

I was waiting for the bus this morning, watching the rain blur the storefronts across the street. A man stood near me, looking at his phone, and for a split second, our eyes met. It wasn’t a long look—just a flicker of recognition between two people who share the same sidewalk but live in entirely different worlds. We didn’t speak. We didn’t even smile. Yet, in that brief overlap of space, I felt a strange sense of weight. It is odd how we spend our lives surrounded by people we will never truly know, yet we are constantly brushing against their stories. We are all just passing through each other’s orbits, leaving behind tiny, invisible imprints. Sometimes, a single glance can hold more truth than a long conversation. It makes me wonder how many lives have touched mine in passing, and how many of those strangers are still carrying a piece of me with them, tucked away in a memory I will never get to see. What do you think happens to those fleeting connections?

Known Stranger by Shahnaz Parvin

Shahnaz Parvin has captured this exact feeling of sudden, quiet intimacy in her image titled Known Stranger. It reminds me that even in the busiest city, we are never truly alone if we are willing to look. Does this image make you think of a stranger you once crossed paths with?
