Before the City Rushes By
I remember leaving the office one November dusk just as the sirens began in the distance. People poured out of the stations, coats pulled tight against the damp chill, moving with a fierce, unified urgency that felt almost theatrical. For a few seconds, I stepped aside into the alcove of a bookstore and watched them go. Nobody looked up. Nobody checked the sky. We spend whole months existing inside the slipstream of other people’s haste, until an unexpected pause feels like a small act of rebellion.

Javed Miandad’s ‘Escape’ brought that exact evening rushing back to me. The blur is not an absence of detail; it is the raw feeling of life moving faster than our hearts can register. Does this photograph take you back to a moment when you stepped aside?
