A Quiet Visitor
I was sitting on my porch this morning, trying to finish a book, when a small bird landed on the railing just inches from my hand. It didn’t seem to care that I was there. It just sat, turning its head to look at the garden, completely unbothered by the world around it. I held my breath, afraid that even a blink might send it flying away. It felt like a secret meeting, a moment of stillness shared between two very different lives. We often rush through our days, eyes fixed on the next task, rarely noticing the small, living things that share our space. When was the last time you stopped moving just to watch someone else exist? It is strange how a tiny, feathered guest can make the rest of the world feel so quiet and manageable. I wonder if we are ever truly alone, or if we just forget to look for the company that is already there.

Ravikumar Jambunathan has captured this exact feeling of quiet connection in his beautiful image titled Black Headed Tanager. It reminds me that even in the most historic places, nature is always waiting for us to notice. Does this image make you feel as peaceful as I do?
