I set out to photograph tulips in various stages of budding and blooming over the course of several days. During this period, I experimented with different lenses and angles to try to capture a unique perspective of a flower that is very common and has been photographed by many photographers. This image was captured with a macro lens and a wide aperture to provide a shallow depth of field and I used the stem as a leading line to draw the viewer further into the frame.
