1st Place | Photo of the Month | 33rd Month

Sunflower, by Mauro Squiz Daviddi
Mauro Squiz Daviddi started photographing in 1976 with the camera of his father, a Vitoret Voigtländer. Photography is his love, and in 1986 Mauro obtain the degree of “Master of Art” at the Art Institute of Bologna. His last photographic exhibitions was from 16 November 2012 to 16 January 2013 at the Museum of Wax Anatomical Bologna. Mauro’s photograph Sunflower in the category of Close-Up Photography scored 72 (Value 13, Clarity 13.5, Composition 18, Style 13.5, Skill 14) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph a notch, raising its score by 5.422 from social media (Facebook Share 3.01, Tweets 1.9, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.512, Comments 0), and in total 77.422, the highest score in this competition in the 33rd Month. This photograph is the winner of Photograph of the Month – 33rd Month, 1st Place.

We will publish a special interview with Mauro Squiz Daviddi in the Photographer with Style section of the magazine, and the Exclusive Interview section on our website.

Based on the social media responses, awarded photographs received on the 33rd month, we set the maximum number of Facebook Like at 500, Tweet at 100, Stumble at 5000, and our subscribers Comments at 50. For this month, we had a head-to-head contest between the top scorers and the photographs that scored the highest became winners of the Photo of the Month. Our team decided to honor these top scorers as 2nd and 3rd places with a page in the next issue of our magazine, where the photographers will share their stories of these photographs. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1967, Sergiy Kadulin grew up in the family with his sister and mother, as his father died when they were two years old. He graduated from the military aviation academy (avionics engineer), and later on, from MBA school (IBR school, based in Ukraine). While majority of his professional career was with information technology, where he worked for such companies as American Power Conversion, hp, Microsoft, and now working with Apple as director of Apple VAD in Ukraine, but photography is his greatest passion and hobby. Sergiy Kadulin’s photograph Coffee in Lviv Cafe, in the category of Travel Photography, also scored 72 (Value 13, Clarity 13, Composition 18.5, Style 13.5, Skill 14) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score by 4.045 from social media (Facebook Share 2.93, Tweets 0.75 StumbleUpon Organic View 0.365, Comments 0), and in total 76.045. This photograph is the winner of Photograph of the Month – 33rd Month, 2nd Place.

Crossing my Path, by Nilla Palmer
Nilla Palmer’s natural desire to travel and photograph many parts of the world started 27 years ago. Although her photography addiction first started with a 110mm film camera, then progressing to 35mm cameras, a photography course, which included B&W darkroom techniques, and recently digital cameras. Nilla captures whatever strikes her at a precise moment but strives for images that will etch in people’s minds. Nilla’s intent is to reveal a story through her images for an audience, which she hopes inspires and encourages people to visit far off lands. She invites everyone to enjoy her gallery and feel free to contact her with any comments. Her photograph Crossing my Path was awarded in the Photo of the Day contest in the category of Street Photography, as it scored a solid 71 (Value 13, Clarity 12.5, Composition 18.5, Style 13.5, Skill 13.5) from our international jury of 5. The number of Tweets, Facebook shares, and StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 2.839 from social media (Facebook Share 1.42, Tweets 1.05, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.069, and Comments 0.3), and in total 73.839. Shahnaz Parvin is a passionate Bangalee, who resides in Bangladesh. Though she is doing a job as system admin in a PSI company, her real passion lays in photography and learning it. Shahnaz mostly loves documentary photography, and loves to represent her country Bangladesh through her lens. Her photograph Spirited Bangladesh was awarded in the Photo of the Day contest in the category of Artistic Photography, as it scored a solid 67 (Value 13, Clarity 13, Composition 17, Style 12, Skill 12) from our international jury of 5.
