At Scotts Road by Siew Bee Lim

Captured in January 2019, this long-exposure night photograph at Scotts Road masterfully documents the kinetic energy of urban traffic. By utilizing a slow shutter speed, the photographer transforms the busy street into a rhythmic display of light, where the red and white trails of passing vehicles create dynamic, sweeping lines across the frame. Despite the subtle texture introduced by slight tripod movement, the image captures the essence of nocturnal motion. This piece is award-worthy for its successful experimentation with light painting and its ability to turn a routine cityscape into a vibrant, abstract narrative of urban life.
