Captured amidst the vibrant chaos of the Holi festival in Shakhari Bazar, this portrait freezes a moment of quiet intensity. As children celebrated by showering one another in brilliant pigments, the photographer noticed a young boy immersed in the festivities. Just as the shutter clicked, the child paused, locking eyes with the lens in a moment of profound stillness. The photograph is award-worthy for its masterful contrast between the exuberant, colorful environment and the subject's sudden, piercing gaze, which transforms a candid street scene into a deeply personal and evocative human connection.

The Weight of Silence
I love the style of this photograph. The vivid, high contrast colors and sharpness of the eye really express the subject. I love the way you have used a wide aperture to give blur as your eye moves away from the subject’s eye. The contrast of the bright colors, deep blacks and the stark white of the subject’s eye draws me into the image. I also love that you can see the reflection of the photographer in the subject’s iris. Well done!
