Preparing the Rice Paddy, by Jim Perceval

Preparing the Rice Paddy, by Jim Perceval - Photojournalism, Photography Award, Motion Photography, Rice Paddy, Nature Photography

The process of preparing the rice paddy, especially the rice field, is a miserable job in the muck that is paddled. As I watched as the day progressed, more and more birds (Egrets I believe) showed up for a feast. By the end of the day, hundreds of these white birds, where swarming around the paddling machine … quite a site to see. This photograph was taken in Songkhla Province, Thailand. Not really sure about this photo…. What am I supposed to be looking at? The title and composition would suggest it is the person working in a field surrounded by birds, but the focusing is on the water in the foreground drawing the eye away.
