Fishing On Lake Massingir by Martin Meyer

Captured during the quiet, golden hours of an early morning on Lake Massingir, this image documents the rhythmic, demanding life of local fishermen in Mozambique. The photographer masterfully frames the subjects as they navigate the vast waters to tend their nets and traps, highlighting a daily ritual that is as exhausting as it is fulfilling. By focusing on the raw authenticity of this traditional way of life, the photograph transcends simple travel documentation, offering an intimate, award-worthy glimpse into the human connection with the natural environment of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park.

Reflections on this Photograph
By Priya Kapoor

The Salt of Morning

The air at dawn has a specific weight, a dampness that clings to the skin like a damp wool blanket. It smells of wet reeds and the metallic tang of deep, undisturbed water.
