Hidden in the Undergrowth
I spent an hour this morning trying to find my spare keys. They were hidden in plain sight, tucked under a stack of mail I had ignored for days. It is funny how we can look directly at a space and see nothing at all, simply because we aren’t expecting anything to be there. We move through our days with such a specific, narrow focus that we often miss the quiet lives unfolding right beneath our feet. There is a whole world happening in the shadows of the garden, or in the corners of a room, that only reveals itself when we finally decide to stop moving and start waiting. It takes a certain kind of patience to let the world show you its secrets. We are so used to demanding that things reveal themselves to us, but maybe the most beautiful things are the ones that choose to stay hidden until we are quiet enough to notice them. What have you overlooked today simply because you were looking too fast?

Saniar Rahman Rahul has captured this beautiful moment in his photograph titled Pitta Brachyuran. It feels like a quiet invitation to slow down and look closer at the forest floor. Does this image make you want to sit still for a while?
