The Weightless Afternoon

I spent this morning trying to organize my bookshelf, but I ended up sitting on the floor for an hour instead. I found an old, folded drawing from when I was seven. It was just a mess of bright, frantic scribbles, but looking at it, I could almost feel the speed of my own hands back then. It’s funny how we spend our adult lives trying to slow down, to be deliberate and steady, while childhood is defined by a kind of beautiful, reckless momentum. We were always running toward something, or away from something, never once worrying about where our feet would land. There is a specific kind of freedom in that lack of caution—a total surrender to the movement of the moment. We didn’t need to know the destination to enjoy the rush of the wind against our faces. Do you remember the last time you moved just for the sake of the feeling, without a single thought for what came next?

Playground Pixie by Sean Lowcay

Sean Lowcay has captured this exact spirit in his image titled Playground Pixie. It feels like a sudden, joyful interruption of a quiet day. What does this sense of wild energy bring back for you?
