The Weight of the Unspoken

We are taught that language is the only bridge. We speak to fill the rooms we inhabit, to push back the silence that gathers in the corners like dust. But there are moments when the tongue fails, when the weight of what we carry is too heavy for words. In these times, we turn inward. We fold our hands. We look toward a horizon that no one else can see. It is not a request for an answer, but an act of surrender. To be still is to acknowledge that we are small, and that the world is vast and largely indifferent to our small, private griefs. There is a dignity in this quietness. It is the sound of a person finally letting go of the need to be understood by anyone other than the infinite. What remains when the last word has been swallowed?

Supplication by Shahnaz Parvin

Shahnaz Parvin has captured this stillness in her image titled Supplication. It reminds me that some conversations are best held in the dark, without a witness. Does your silence ever feel like a prayer?
