The Space Between Us
I was walking through the subway station this morning, clutching my bag and checking my watch, when I saw two people standing near the stairs. They weren’t talking, and they weren’t touching, but there was a strange, magnetic tension in the way they stood. It made me stop for a second, right in the middle of the rush. We spend so much of our lives moving through public spaces, surrounded by strangers, yet we are constantly navigating these invisible boundaries. We are always on the verge of a connection—a glance, a brush of a sleeve, a shared moment of silence—that could change the entire trajectory of our day. We walk past each other like ghosts in a tunnel, rarely acknowledging the weight of the stories we carry. It makes me wonder how many lives have brushed against mine without me ever knowing, and how many times I have been a background character in someone else’s turning point.

Wilfried Claus has captured this exact feeling of quiet potential in his image titled Navigating Lifes Crossroads. It beautifully mirrors that sense of being suspended in a moment of transition. Does this image remind you of a chance encounter you once had?
