Home Reflections The Weight We Carry

The Weight We Carry

I was walking home from the market yesterday when I saw a young boy helping his grandmother navigate a steep curb. He didn’t look like he was doing it out of duty; he just reached out, took her arm, and adjusted his pace to match hers without a second thought. It was such a small, quiet act of service, but it stopped me in my tracks. We spend so much of our lives focused on our own destinations, our own heavy bags, and our own hurried schedules. We often forget that the most significant thing we can do for another person is simply to make their path a little easier to walk. There is a particular kind of strength found in those who choose to carry someone else’s burden, even when their own hands are full. It makes me wonder how many times we have been the ones being carried, and how often we have failed to notice the hands that held us steady.

The Savior by Tamal Debnath

Tamal Debnath has captured this exact spirit of quiet devotion in his image titled The Savior. It is a powerful reminder of the bonds that hold us together when the world feels overwhelming. Does this image remind you of someone who has carried you through a difficult time?
