Driven by Passion

If there is a single road that led to every corner of the earth, then surely you, me, and some adventurous few would love be the first to travel it. Yes, it is our zeal for discovering life, nature, and culture that drives us to be there and makes us passionate enough to capture it in a frame. With artistic photography, it becomes a road less traveled by for those who appreciate its core.

Punta Insua Lighthouse is located near the Roman town of Finis Terrae, in northwestern Spain. This is the place where we resumed our photographic journey, with photographer Felix Sánchez-Tembleque.

From Spain to India, Java to California, Brussels to Hyderabad, Paris to Hatcher Pass, Dubai to Istanbul, Skofja Loka to New York, Alaska to Kerala, and Kanyakumari to Niseko, Photo of the Day traveled with 21 photographers in 31 days.

Félix, Lakshmi, Ismawan, Aarthi, Diego, Olivier, Nghia, Mike, Jim, Fernando, Tina, Ersavaº, Agnisoonu, Orhan, Ronnie, Sarin, Sharad, Chris, Leonardo, Benjamin, and Najeeb took us to 30 different places around the world.

When we become passionate, our dreams exceed our imagination but with photography we capture those essences with authenticity. We want to become free, climbing mountains, visiting the Kingdom of Gold or being lost in between order and randomness.

Yes, it’s the boundless freedom of the mind which possesses no limits of time or place. We can go back in time and meet a World War I veteran, or go on a spiritual journey to a peaceful mosque. We could join a peaceful demonstration for Gaza to stop the sorrow and pain of her people, and then fly over the Detroit River, or enjoy the 115 years-old Tower Bridge on the river Thames. It’s a corridor of passion that leads to the Far East, Beijing and on to Niseko, Japan. Despite the variety of locations, there is a common theme: capturing a moment in time, which Photo of the Day took us on, from the eleventh of July to the tenth of August, 2010.

The journey that Photo of the Day started in June, reached its third month, and now it’s up to you to select the most passionate photographer for Photo of the Month – 3rd Month. For that they need your support. Please view these photographs by clicking on them. Then re-tweet, and click on the Facebook “Like” button, and let the world know that the essence of photography truly is driven by passion.

wow, what a great collection of passionate photos. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be “Sorrow and Pain” by Olivier Vin. You can see the pain in the woman’s face.
