Around the World in 29 Days
“From the highest point of earth to the surface of oceans; from the farthest points west to the farthest points east, the touch of human life and civilization reaches every corner. From the extreme adventurous environment to the busy market downtown, we explore.“ Remember those lines we wrote for Photo of the Day?
Yes, in twenty-nine days, Photo of the Day traveled around the world, through the lenses of twenty photographers. From the peaks of the Espigüete northern mountain range of Spain to the people of Bay of Bengal in Bangladesh, from the village of Songkhla, Thailand to the USA, from the Middle East to the far west, it traveled, and continues to explore more.

When the Photo of the Day challenge was presented to photographers, it was they who led us around the world, with their beautiful photographs and descriptions.
On June twelfth, Photo of the Day started its journey, with Jim Perceval. Jim from western Canada, and now resides on the beautiful tropical island of Ko Samui, Thailand. Jim took us to to a village in the Songkhla province, in southern Thailand, with his photograph “Preparing the Rice Paddy“. It’s a photograph of a rice field where hundreds of birds swarm around, a magical moment indeed, to capture. It is an amazing photograph, but not many people noticed the rare scene.
Sikkim, India is a place many people dream to travel there in this lifetime. The magnificent mountain range of the Himalayas is nestled in this small Indian state, with a climate that ranges from subtropical to high alpine. Photographer Sanjay Gajjar, with his photograph, “On the Way to Lachung,” took us on the adventurous journey on June thirteenth.
