A Very Brighton SpringA Very Brighton Spring by Daz Hamadi
It was a typical spring day in Brighton where one minute the sun was beaming down on us and the next sprinkling us with rain, I saw a group of exchange students walking down the pier looking very shocked that they had to use their hoods as the sun was glorious a few seconds before!
The Abandoned Bicycle by Wilfried ClausThe Abandoned Bicycle by Wilfried Claus
The concrete-dominated, unadorned railway underpass is part of the station in Pulheim, a medium-sized town west of Cologne. The numerous mounted bike racks are hardly used despite the morning rush hour, obviously because the atmosphere here is quite uncomfortable and parking the bikes in this remote place is hardly theft-proof. A planning mistake on the part of the city? The individual bicycle makes the abandonment of the place clear.
Not Reading Poetry by Leanne LindsayNot Reading Poetry by Leanne Lindsay
This day I dedicated to taking some street photographs and one of my favourite places to go to watch people is the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. I found an installation I was intrigued with and placed myself as inconspicuously as possible, in the corner, watching people and waiting for something interesting to happen. I waited patiently for a while - maybe 1/2 an hour but nothing was happening. While waiting, I decided on a different approach and, not wanting to take a boring photo, decided to take a photo where the art installation was in focus but the people walking past were blurred. I set up my camera to take the shot I envisioned. I noticed this couple walking around, not really paying attention to the art and decided that if they walked past this artwork, I would take the photo. After some time, they walked past the art installation and as I had predicted, they didn't stop to contemplate the artwork, but walked straight past it. That's when I took the shot. It came out exactly as I had envisioned.
