Shahnaz Parvin is a passionate Bangalee, who resides in Bangladesh. She mostly loves documentary photography, and loves to represent her country Bangladesh through her lens. On October 23, 2012, her photograph Smile is All You Need, taken in Manipuri Para, Srimongol, Sylhet, the north-eastern part of Bangladesh, was awarded in the Photo of the Day contest in the category of Travel Photography, as it scored a solid 68 (Value 13, Clarity 12.5, Composition 17, Style 13.5, Skill 12) from our international jury of 5. The number of Tweets, Facebook shares, and StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 6.178 from social media (Facebook Share 4.52, Tweets 0.95, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.408, and Comments 0.3), and in total 74.178, the highest score in this competition for the 29th Month. This photograph is the winner of Photograph of the Month – 29th Month, 1st Place.

We will publish a special interview with Shahnaz Parvin in the Photographer with Style section of the magazine, and the Exclusive Interview section on our website.

Based on the social media responses awarded photographs received on the 29th month, we set the maximum number of Facebook Like at 500, Tweet at 100, Stumble at 5000, and our subscribers Comments at 50. For this month, we had a head-to-head contest between the top scorers and the photographs that scored the highest became winners of the Photo of the Month. Our team decided to honor these top scorers as 2nd and 3rd places with a page in the next issue of our magazine, where the photographers will share their stories of these photographs. Sujoy Das is a freelance photographer based in Kolkata. He has been photographing, climbing and trekking in the Himalaya for the last thirty years. His photographs have been published in leading newspapers, magazines and books worldwide like The Washington Post, Lonely Planet, APA Publications, and Outlook Traveler etc. Sujoy’s photograph Spring Storm on Thamserku, in the category of Adventure Photography, scored 69.5 (Value 12.5, Clarity 13.5, Composition 17, Style 12.5, Skill 14) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph a bit, raising its score to 2.463 from social media (Facebook Share 0.99, Tweets 0.95, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.423, Comments 0.1), and in total 71.963. Nilla Palmer lives in Brisbane, Australia and works as a Technical Writer and Freelance Photographer. Her intrigue with photography started at a young age with a 110mm film camera. Saniar Rahman Rahul is working as the Art Director of Grey World Wide, one of the ten largest advertising agencies in the world. He was the first winner for ‘Photo of the Month Award’ in June 2010. Saniar’s photograph Olive-backed Pipit, in the category of Wildlife Photography, scored 68 (Value 12, Clarity 13, Composition 17.5, Style 12.5, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition.
