Mai Phuong is a passionate Singapore-based photographer. On May 11, 2012, her photograph Fires, was awarded in the Photo of the Day contest in the category of Close-up Photography, as it scored a solid 72.5 (Value 14, Clarity 13.5, Composition 18, Style 13.5, and Skill 13.5 ) from our international jury of 5. The number of Tweets, Facebook shares, and StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 2.37 from social media (Facebook Share 1.16, Tweets 0.75, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.11, and Comments 0.35), and in total 74.87, the highest score in this competition for the 24th Month. This photograph is the winner of Photograph of the Month – 24th Month, 1st Place.

The next nearest contestant was Abdellah Azizi, who is 25 years old photographer from Morocco. Abdellah’s photograph Atlas Child in the category of Portraiture Photography, scored 72 (Value 13, Clarity 14.5, Composition 18, Style 12.5, and Skill 14) from our international jury of 5, and also obtains a solid position in the competition. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic View boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 2.095 from social media (Facebook Share 1.05, Tweets 0.775, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.12, and Comments 0.15) and in total 74.095. We verified these scores several times and as both scores are so close, we decided to award both photographs Photo of the Month – 24th Month, 1st Place.

Both photographs will be published on Pages 2 and 3 of our magazine. We will publish a special interview with Mai Phuong Duong & Abdellah Azizi in the Photographer with Style section of the magazine, and the Exclusive Interview section on our website.

Another five close contestants scored between 60 and 70 from our international jury. Our team decided to honor these as 2nd and 3rd places with a page in the next issue of our magazine, where they will share the stories of these photographs. We will also publish their interviews in the Exclusive Interview section on our Web.

Nirupam ‘s photograph Out of Syllabus, in the category of Documentary Photography, scored 64.5 (Value 13, Clarity 12.5, Composition 16, Style 10.5, and Skill 12.5) from our international jury of 5.
