1st Place | Photo of the Month | 20th Month

Out of Africa, by Orhan Aksel
Orhan Aksel was born in 1961. He is an Industrial and Systems engineer, graduated from University of Florida in ’86 and since then the founder and owner of a high-tech company in Istanbul. He has been a passionate photographer but amateur since he was 12. On January 07, 2012, his photograph Out of Africa was awarded in the Photo of the Day contest in the category of Wildlife Photography, as it scored a solid 73.5 (Value 13.5, Clarity 13, Composition 18.5, Style 14, Skill 14.5) from our international jury of 5. The number of Tweets, Facebook shares, and StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 4.2005 from social media (Facebook Share 1.31, Tweets 2.05, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.7405, and Comments 0.1), and in total 77.7005, the highest score in this competition for the 20th Month. This photograph is the winner of Photograph of the Month – 20th Month, 1st Place.

We will publish a special interview with Orhan Aksel in the Photographer with Style section of the magazine, and the Exclusive Interview section on our website.

For our 20th month, we had a head-to-head contest between the top scorers and the photographs that scored the highest became winners of the Photo of the Month. Our team decided to honor these top scorers as 2nd and 3rd places with a page in the next issue of our magazine, where the photographers will share their stories of these photographs. We will also publish their interviews in the Exclusive Interview section on our Web.

Luca Renoldi was born in Milan on 1958 and is living in the surround of Monza, not far from the loved Milan, with the wife Cinzia, and the daughter Alessia. He loves photographic art, taking pictures of whatever he finds interesting, nothing precluded, fitting the perspective to the mounted optics, rarely constructing his own photos, leaving the images as real as his eyes have seen. Luca’s photograph Lake Oggiono, in the category of Landscape Photography, scored 71 (Value 12.5, Clarity 13, Composition 18, Style 13.5, Skill 14) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 5.209 from social media (Facebook Share 2.21, Tweets 2.05, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.749, Comments 0.2), and in total 76.209. This photograph is the winner of Photograph of the Month – 20th Month, 2nd Place.

The Show Must Go On, by Eyad Al Shami
Born in 1976 in Jerusalem, Eyad Al Shami grew up with the trend to try different hobbies, but photography was the most serious one when he bought his first camera in 2000. Continuous reading, dedication and practice are what he was focusing on since that day. Photographing Kids, Street, and Low Light scenes are what he loves and will one day adopt one of them as the main path in his photography journey. Eyad‘s photograph The Show Must Go On in the category of Travel Photography, scored 69 (Value 11.5, Clarity 12.5, Composition 17.5, Style 13.5, Skill 14) from our international jury of 5. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 1.81 from social media (Facebook Share 1.11, Tweets 0.4, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.10, Comments 0.2), and in total 70.81.
