Dinner for Father by Shovan Acharyya

Bordhoi is one of the big freshwater fish sources in Sunamganj as well as Bangladesh. Here it’s spring, the driest season. Water level becomes decrease dramatically for over sun heating. And all fishermen get very busy with fishing and count their profit which they have invested to protect the fishing zone for the last few years. Fishermen get contracted for five years for protecting and fishing for a certain area of wetland by the local government. For that time they live here by making some temporary buildings of bamboo and other temporary things. and live without family for that period. Their fishing zone is very far from the locality. and it is very calm and peaceful here. Sometimes Dinner is sent from the fishermen”s home. And often the boy child has been sent from for that purpose. And also told before sunset to return home. Here the boy carrying dinner for his father who is one of the fishermen. But he is very hurried because of the darkness.

Born in Sunamgonj, a small town in Bangladesh, but lives in Dhaka now, Shovan has completed Masters from University of Chittagong in Economics, but is a passionate photographer.
