Lesser Grass Blue by Siew Bee Lim

Captured on a fine day within a local park, this image documents a delicate encounter between two Lesser Grass Blue butterflies. The photographer observed a smaller specimen fluttering through the grass before a larger butterfly, appearing to be the parent, emerged into the frame. By focusing on the Zizina otis lampa, the photographer highlights the subtle beauty of these miniature creatures. The award-winning quality of the shot lies in the patient observation of natural behavior, successfully isolating a fleeting, intimate moment in the wild that often goes unnoticed by the casual observer.

Reflections on this Photograph
By Sven Lindqvist

The Weight of Small Things

We walk through the world looking for the monumental. We want the mountain, the storm, the vast expanse of the frozen sea. We believe that significance is measured by scale.

The Weight of Small Things

I keep a pressed blue cornflower inside the pages of a dictionary, its color now more shadow than petal. It is brittle, a ghost of a summer that felt like it would never end, yet slipped away the moment I turned my head.
