Waiting for the World
I spent this morning watching a robin hop across my porch. It was so small, its feathers still looking a bit messy, like it had just woken up from a long nap. It didn’t seem to know what to do next, just standing there with its head tilted, waiting for the world to tell it where to go. I realized then how much of our lives we spend trying to look like we have a plan. We walk with purpose, we check our watches, and we pretend that we aren’t just figuring it out as we go along. But there is a quiet, honest grace in simply being small and uncertain. Maybe we are all just fledglings in our own way, waiting for a gust of wind or a bit of sun to show us the path. It is a vulnerable thing to be new to the world, but perhaps it is also the only time we are truly open to everything.

Saniar Rahman Rahul has captured this exact feeling of quiet discovery in the image titled Baby Indian Silverbills. It is a beautiful reminder of how much life happens when we just sit still and observe. What does this image bring to your mind today?
