Home Reflections Under the Same Shelter

Under the Same Shelter

I walked to the mailbox this morning in a sudden downpour. I didn’t have an umbrella, and for a second, I thought about running back inside to stay dry. But then I saw my neighbor standing on her porch, waving at me, completely unbothered by the grey sky. We ended up standing there for ten minutes, talking about nothing in particular while the rain soaked the pavement around us. It felt strange to be so content while getting wet. Usually, we spend our lives trying to avoid the discomfort of the elements, rushing from one roof to another, terrified of a little water. But there is something about being caught in the weather that strips away the urgency. You stop trying to stay perfect and start just being present. It reminded me that we don’t always need to seek cover when things get messy. Sometimes, the best moments are the ones where you decide to stay out in the rain, just to see what happens.

The Show Must Go On by Eyad Al Shami

Eyad Al Shami has captured this exact spirit of resilience in his image titled The Show Must Go On. It is a beautiful reminder that connection is often found when we choose to stay outside while everyone else runs for cover. Does this image make you want to step out into the rain?
