Home Reflections The Quiet Bloom

The Quiet Bloom

I spent an hour this morning trying to pull weeds from the patch of dirt behind my apartment. I was frustrated, sweating, and focused entirely on what didn’t belong there. I wanted the space to look clean, orderly, and intentional. But then I stopped, wiped my forehead, and realized I had nearly crushed a tiny, wild flower growing right in the middle of the mess. It wasn’t planted by me, and it certainly wasn’t part of my plan, but it was thriving in the exact spot I deemed unworthy. It made me think about how often we overlook the things that don’t fit our narrow definitions of beauty. We are so busy curating our lives and weeding out the distractions that we miss the small, resilient things that show up without an invitation. Sometimes, the most meaningful parts of our surroundings are the ones we didn’t ask for and didn’t expect to find. What have you overlooked today because you were too busy looking for something else?
