The Flow of Becoming

Heraclitus famously observed that one cannot step into the same river twice, for the waters are ever-changing and the man himself is not the same as he was a moment before. We often mistake the world for a collection of static objects, solid and reliable, when in truth we inhabit a constant state of flux. We cling to the illusion of permanence, building our days upon the assumption that the ground beneath us will remain unchanged. Yet, the reality is a relentless stream of motion, a perpetual transition where nothing is ever truly still. To acknowledge this is not to invite despair, but to find a strange, quiet freedom. If the world is a river, then our only task is to learn how to move with the current rather than fighting against the inevitable tide of time. What remains of us when the water has carried away everything we thought we held fast?
