Home Reflections Between the Steel and Sky

Between the Steel and Sky

I walked through the park this morning, trying to shake off the noise of the city that seems to follow me even into my dreams. It is strange how we live in these tall, concrete boxes, always looking up, always rushing toward the next appointment. I found myself stopping near a cluster of trees, just watching the way the branches reached out toward the buildings. For a second, the city didn’t feel like a machine. It felt like a quiet neighbor, resting under the same fading light that hit my face. We spend so much time trying to conquer our surroundings, to make them work for us, that we forget to just stand still and let them exist. There is a specific kind of peace in realizing that you are just a small part of a much larger, breathing landscape. It makes the heavy things feel a little lighter, doesn’t it? I wonder if we would feel more at home if we stopped trying to outrun the horizon.

Sunset in Central Park by Patricia Saraiva

Patricia Saraiva has captured this exact feeling in her beautiful image titled Sunset in Central Park. It perfectly mirrors that moment of stillness I found today, where the wild and the urban finally agree to be quiet together. Does this view make you feel small in a good way?
