Captured in the serene light of dawn at Kanyakumari, this monochrome photograph presents a timeless tableau of fishermen along the sea shore, engaged in the age-old dance of casting nets into the embracing sea. The early morning light plays with shadows and silhouettes, sketching a scene of simple elegance and enduring human endeavor.
Each figure is poised in a moment of hopeful anticipation, their actions a testament to the symbiotic relationship with the sea. The monochrome tones strip the moment down to its essence, highlighting the contrast between the fishermen's silhouettes and the shimmering expanse of water, creating a visual poetry that transcends the ordinary.
This image, with its interplay of light, shadow, and human resilience, offers a glimpse into the daily rhythms of life at the edge of the water—a silent homage to the quiet beauty and enduring spirit of the fishermen of Kanyakumari.

Light in the Dark by Maria Magdalena Vladu-Popa
I took this photo on a winter evening, in the center of the city where I live. The Christmas Fair had just started and the streets were crowded with people who were admiring the Christmas decorations or eating gingerbread. I was there with my parents and they offered to pose for me. The photo is a portrait of my mother and was done using one of the Christmas lights arrangements on the street.
