I’ve spent enough mornings shivering on a pier to know when a photographer has actually sat with their subject until the guard drops. She didn't just take a portrait; she earned his silence. It’s a rare, quiet bit of work. I find myself quite envious.

f/2.8 at 85mm, ISO 200. A classic portrait configuration. The shallow depth of field isolates the subject’s weathered skin, forcing focus onto the eyes. It’s a clinical choice that works. The sharpness on those calloused hands is precise, though I’d have preferred a tighter stop to keep the ears in focus. It’s technically sound, yet I find myself wishing the light wasn't so flat. It’s accurate, but it doesn't quite haunt me.

    The face and the hand of this beautiful sole shows the hardship of life within him! But yet, he returned to what he knows best and sets there reminiscing about his past?
