Greek Church under the Sun, by Thomas Lianos

Greek church in the island of Tinos Greece, shining under the early afternoon sun. All churches in the Aegean sea islands are traditionally white. This particular one was painted to get ready for the celebrations of the Virgin Mar, which is on August the 15th. Asbestos and water is what normally is used for painting, and this is a tradition of thousands of years in Greek islands. I have framed part of the church, to show this particular stairs shape, which in fact is used to support the bell towel.

Thomas Lianos is a Greek, living and working in Warsaw Poland. Photography is not his main profession, but it is his big passion. Started with a Russian Kiew camera 30 years ago as a teenager, he continued with his first Olympus OM10, and then moved to digital photography few years ago with Nikon gear. His interest is mostly in street photography, architecture, and landscapes. Spending most of his free time on trying to get the proper scene and light. For many years he considered photography as a very personal issue, then recently decided to publish some of his work, created his photography page and posted photos in dedicated sites seeking the opinion and reaction of public.
