Inside the Pansy by Laria Saunders

In this evocative close-up captured in Montreux, Switzerland, the photographer explores the intricate, hidden architecture of a pansy. By utilizing macro photography techniques and a shallow depth of field, the artist isolates the flower’s delicate center, rendering the surrounding petals into a soft, ethereal blur. This deliberate focus highlights the complex textures and vibrant patterns often overlooked by the naked eye. The image is award-worthy for its masterful control of light and composition, transforming a common garden bloom into a striking, abstract study of natural beauty that invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the quiet complexity of the botanical world.

Velvet Beneath the Breath

The smell of damp earth after a summer rain always brings me back to the feeling of velvet against my cheek. It is a heavy, humid scent, thick enough to taste, like moss pressed against the tongue.

This image is a lovely combination of technical skill and a deeper seeing.
She has caught the image perfectly and simultaneously expressed the visceral sensation the bee must experience as it enters the sensual, lavender realm of pansy.

May we all become as present and conscious of nature’s offerings of deep solas and peace as Laria Saunders is.

Truly exquisite. Thank you ! K.C.
