Liimfjorden Bridge at Sunset by Nuno Alexandre

Captured during the vibrant energy of the 2010 Tall Ships Race in Aalborg, this photograph immortalizes the Liimfjorden Bridge as the day draws to a close. The photographer expertly utilized the golden hour light to silhouette pedestrians traversing the bridge, creating a compelling interplay between human movement and the industrial architecture of the structure. By isolating the scene against the dramatic sunset, the image captures a fleeting moment of communal life. Its award-worthy quality lies in the harmonious balance of technical precision and the evocative, atmospheric storytelling that defines the spirit of the event.

The Salt on the Wind

The air near the water always tastes of cold iron and damp wool. I remember standing on a pier as a child, the wood beneath my bare feet splintered and slick with sea-spray, while the wind pulled at my hair like a persistent, invisible hand.

This is a very interesting photo. I viewed it first before looking at the title and background information. I felt like I was transplanted to another world, like a science fiction movie. I like the clarity and sharp relief of the numerous people on the bridge’s boardwalk. The lights above seem to float. Black & Red provide a great colour contrast. This is a very nice photo. The composition and timing were perfect. Your patience has paid off in spades. Thanks for sharing your vision with all of us. Thank you. Hans :o
