The Weight of Bread
We spend our lives waiting for the grand event, the sudden shift in the wind that promises meaning. We look for it in the horizon, in the noise of cities, in the accumulation of things we do not need. But meaning is rarely a loud guest. It arrives in the quietest hours, often while we are doing something as simple as eating. It is found in the way the light falls across a table, or the way a hand rests against a bowl. There is a particular gravity to a meal taken in solitude, a stillness that demands nothing from the world. We are most ourselves when we are not performing for anyone. The hunger is physical, but the satisfaction is something else entirely. It is the recognition that, for this brief moment, the cycle of wanting has stopped. What remains when the plate is empty?

Rezwan Razzaq has captured this stillness in the image titled Meaning of Happiness. It reminds us that contentment is often found in the most ordinary of gestures. Does your own joy require so much, or is it enough to simply be?
