This photo was taken in Hampi. A very small village in north Karnataka state, in India. Hampi is a UNESCO proteced World Heritage Site for its various monuments spread across the village and its surroundings. It is more popular for foreign tourists specially backpackers which is evident from the T-Shirt featuring Che Guevara! The shopkeeper even told me to buy one since ‘many foreigners buy it’!

The Arenal Observatory Lodge provides some fantastic views in this part of Costa Rica. Looking out over the lake, one can see the small islands and mountains around the lake, topped with large windmills that take advantage of the high winds and provide electricity for the valley. Opposite the lake is Arenal Volcano, a regularly active volcano.
