Home Reflections Where the Light Stays

Where the Light Stays

I spent this morning trying to fix a leaky faucet in the kitchen. It was one of those small, nagging tasks I had been putting off for weeks. I kept dropping the wrench, and the water kept splashing my sleeves, making me feel clumsy and impatient. But then, the sun shifted. A beam of light cut through the window and hit the steam rising from my half-finished tea, turning the air into something soft and golden. I stopped. I didn’t fix the leak right away. I just stood there, watching how the light turned the ordinary kitchen into a place that felt quiet and holy. We spend so much of our lives trying to patch things up, to keep the house in order, that we forget to notice when the world decides to decorate itself for us. It makes me wonder how many miracles we miss simply because we are too busy holding a wrench. What is the last thing you saw that made you put down your work and just breathe?

The Sky Porch by Zahraa Al Hassani

Zahraa Al Hassani has captured this feeling perfectly in her image titled The Sky Porch. It feels like a sanctuary built out of nothing but light and patience. Does this space feel like a place where you would go to find some quiet?
