Home Reflections The Weight We Carry

The Weight We Carry

I spent this morning trying to organize the bookshelf in my hallway. It’s a small task, but I found myself struggling with a stack of heavy boxes I’ve been meaning to move for weeks. My back ached, and I kept stopping to catch my breath, wondering why I insist on holding onto things that make the simple act of walking through my own home feel like a chore. We all have these invisible loads, don’t we? Some are physical, like the boxes I couldn’t lift, but most are the quiet burdens we shoulder because we believe we have no other choice. We walk steep paths, head down, focused only on the next step, convinced that the weight is just part of the landscape. It is strange how much a person can endure when the alternative is simply standing still. I wonder, if we ever set the load down, would we even know how to stand upright, or have we been bent for so long that the curve has become our shape?

Know the Kolbars by Moslem Azimi

Moslem Azimi has captured this profound sense of endurance in the image titled Know the Kolbars. It speaks to the heavy, silent miles that define a life. Does this image make you think of the burdens you carry, or perhaps the ones you’ve finally set down?
